Lanie Sumlin BS
Hi y’all! My name is Lanie. I am currently an intern here at DAC pursuing my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health. My interest in entering the mental health field began when I was pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Montana State University. I had my sights set on moving back to my home state of Colorado to work with eating disorder clients. I worked at an eating disorder treatment facility as a Registered Dietitian for 4 years. While I was there I learned that I wanted to be able to integrate my passion for providing inclusive nutrition care and therapy by treating the mind, body, and spirit. My approach to therapy is uniquely individualized because no path to healing is the same. I use an integrative approach of dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. My current interests in presenting problems include eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, and grief and loss.
When I’m not in the office you can probably find me outside. I love spending time with my husband and my dog in the mountains hiking, skiing, fly fishing, and looking for heart rocks to add to my collection. I believe that food is a central point of connection, so I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, explore new restaurants with loved ones, and travel to new places to try different cuisines.
