Brian Coleman MA, LPCC
Licensure Candidate
Hello…..My name is Brian and I am an LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate). I am currently working on my clinical hours for licensure. I have been practicing as a therapist for 2 years now and I have one more year to go before I have my LPC. Here are some of the things I have learned about myself and my personal therapeutic style through my journey:
One of the most important indicators of a good outcome in therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. I believe that the client is the expert on their own experience. As the therapist, it is my job to create an accepting and nurturing environment to aid in personal growth.
There are many therapeutic approaches and I do not believe in one size fits all. My general approaches are top down (verbal processing) and bottom up (sensory experiencing). I draw from a person centered, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches. I am trained in somatic psychotherapy which includes sensorimotor psychotherapy and sensory experiencing.
I have experience working with an array of different conditions including: trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, stress management, difficult life transitions, OCD and grief/loss.
