Brian Coleman MA, LPCC

Licensure Candidate

Hello…..My name is Brian and I am an LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate). I am currently working on my clinical hours for licensure. I have been practicing as a therapist for 2 years now and I have one more year to go before I have my LPC. Here are some of the things I have learned about myself and my personal therapeutic style through my journey:

  • One of the most important indicators of a good outcome in therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. I believe that the client is the expert on their own experience. As the therapist, it is my job to create an accepting and nurturing environment to aid in personal growth.

  • There are many therapeutic approaches and I do not believe in one size fits all. My general approaches are top down (verbal processing) and bottom up (sensory experiencing). I draw from a person centered, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches. I am trained in somatic psychotherapy which includes sensorimotor psychotherapy and sensory experiencing.

  • I have experience working with an array of different conditions including: trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, stress management, difficult life transitions, OCD and grief/loss.
