10 Ways to Nurture Yourself During the Holidays

The holidays can be a fun and festive time of year, but they can also bring increased amounts of stress. Here is a list of things you can do to make sure you are taking time to nurture yourself during this busy season.




 

  1. Make at least two commitments to yourself that you know you can keep each week - start with something simple such as exercising once a week for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Make a gratitude list that you add to each week, or start a gratitude journal.

  3. Begin each morning by taking 5 minutes to yourself for meditation, contemplation, or visuzalition - imagine how you want your day to turn out.

  4. Go for a hike or walk, spend time outdoors connecting with nature.

  5. Pamper yourself by taking a bath, lighting candles, use aromatherapy, and play relaxing music.

  6. Give yourself permission to say "no" - you don't have to do it all!

  7. Write a letter to yourself, a letter you would like to receive from someone else.

  8. If you are feeling lonely, volunteer or reach out to friends.

  9. Open the curtains - let in the light!

  10. Acknowledge yourself right where you are, know that you are enough!
